Gardens of Stone National Park conserves 15,031 ha {hectares}, a new addition to the Park it is an ancient landscape of majestic cliffs and strange rock formations. Varied terrain from limestone outcrops to sandstone escarpments. The pagoda rock formations are a prominent feature of the park. They occur near sandstone escarpment edges where erosion process have sculptured bee hive domes and a curious array of other shapes.The park has no facilities apart from a few fire trails which provide short walking opportunities. Experienced walkers have plenty of scope for off track exploration. The nearest car based camping areas are at Newnes and Glen Davis. open daily, 24 hours.
Access:
Capertee Valley: The northern boundary is adjacent to the Capertee / Glen Davis Road.
Ben Bullen: This section of the park is accessible via 4WD trail that extends from the Mudgee road at Ben Bullen to the Wolgan Road. It provides access to Baal Bone gap.
Newnes Plateau: The Glow Worm Tunnel Road or Newnes Forest Road from Lithgow gives access to the nearby Carne Creek escarpment.
